Felt it pretty strong in Monterey Park, CA.  Wow!  Everyone's okay though. Thank God. Surprised

Glad you're OK Jeannine.  You're closer to the epicenter than I am.  I'm in Silver Lake, eastern LA, so it was rolling for a while but not intensely.  My husband works in Costa Mesa and said it was very strong down there.  But no damage that we can see . . .

Yes.  It was a good rolling one. My work bldg. is on the 2nd floor so @ first we thought it was the maint. guys but then it didn't quit. Cell phones were down for awhile too.

Wow Amy, strong in Costa Mesa too?  Hmmmm hope it's not leading to that Big One.

my son works at the recording academy in santa monica and he said it was quite strong...the strongest he's felt in his 6 1/2 years out there.  said the entire building rolled back and forth.

We felt it!  I was 30 miles from the epicenter and it was a good shaker.  5.4 on the Richter. My daughter was 8 miles from the epicenter.  It was the 2nd day of school, so they hadn't done earthquake drill and it was lunch time for the kids, they were all on the play yard.

The teacher said she was worried:  what will they do? where are my kids going to be?  She was walking across the play yard when she turned around she had a line of kids following her and she was shocked .. she counted them up, only 17, so they kept walking (in a sea of 900 kids) towards the classroom when the last duckling came running up to join MamaDuck.  She had tears in her eyes retelling us at Parents night on Thursday.

We came home to find one of my big birdhouses had fallen off the top of the kitchen cabinets. We were surprised it was not broken by the hard tiled floor!!!

Wow that must have been scary for your daughter.

One of my friends told me that in her daughter's class, the teacher ran out of the classroom before checking on the classroom.  The Aid took over. I'm sure it was really scary for teachers and day care providers.

I bet that teacher is going to get an earful from the principal!
