Yes, SoCal, That was our team in the Dragon Boat write-up in Saturday's Union-Trib. Cool

Susan - good luck with getting your mom and dad into a suitable assisted living arrangement. That's a huge undertaking while you are still recovering yourself - all that travel and coordination of care, transferring of stuff - whew - more power to you!

Jodi - good to hear from you - the new place sounds like an ideal location!

Brenda - have a BLAST at Pinkstock!

Susan--I had to laugh about the lymphedema thing. Sometimes I think we could all sit for oncology board exams. Good luck with getting your parents settled.

LisaSDCA--how cool! I missed the article--will have to go on-line and check it out!

Jodi--the new apartment location sounds great--proximity to the onc is definately important. Good luck with the move, and hope the radiation will give you some pain relief. Sorry to hear about the new fractures--that sucks.

Brenda--glad you're having a good time. Give big hugs to all our bc sisters at Pinkstock.

ME TOO, Brenda, have a blast!  You must post and tell us all about it as soon as you can.

Liz, I saw the article on the Dragon Boats, am I too old?  Let me know and if their is space, etc.

Hi again. Well, I'm actually logging on! Amazing. Good to see everyone chatting away.

Things are going well, just feeling the fatigue that is so well talked about.

Dr. Lean put me on the Neuronten. Really seems to be helping, along with steroids 3 times a day. I'm weaning back down to 50 mcg of fentanyl. I really don't like all the drugs. I'm thinking of getting involved in this pranic healing center when we get moved into Encinitas. Also, there is a yoga class for cancer patients that looks good. I'm concerned about all the 'breakage' but I am hopeful that being involved in specialty stuff will keep me healthy. I'm also really hoping the move to Encinitas will make life so much easier. Location, location, location.

Love ya all... I am with you Brenda... ALL THE WAY! Tongue out

    Jodi

Pinkstock was so wonderful. Take a look at that thread. I don't want to repeat myself to much today. We are on the road back to my sisters now. This has been the best vacation I have ever had.

SoCal-Not only do I know how to make the swimsuit puffy, I am bringing home one to show you how. If your suit is black you can just use this one.

Newvickie won our bag from California. She loved it. Shirlann she was wearing the jewerly you donated right away.

Well I am going to go check in over at Nosurrender's site now so I will check in when I get home.

Oh Brenda, I can't wait to see you and hear all the stories.

I am so glad you met AE, from the Just Diagnosed site, she is a love and has had her plate, real, real full.

    Talk to you soon, Shirlann

    Hi Ladies,

I've been MIA - I guess I'm just getting my "normal" life back and I don't seem to check in here as often.  I guess that's good as the dependency on the boards is gone, but I want to stay in touch with all of you.  I was bummed to miss the last couple get togethers, but hope to make the next one!

I'm leaving Sunday with my son to go to orientation at UCSB.  We're both exciting and looking forward to the trip.

My two youngest boys have started football and it just consumes us - in a good way ;-)  I'm just happy that I'm feeling so much better than this time last year, so can actually enjoy taking them, watching them, etc...

I've started exploring reconstruction.  The PS I saw here said to go see Dr. Robert Allen in South Carolina!  I'm exploring it as an option.  Also a Dr. Granzow up at UCLA.

Hope everyone is doing well and I can't wait to see everyone at our next luncheon.

Lisa #3-Nice to see you. You sound like you are doing really well. I am happy you are feeling like some normalcy has returned to your life. Good luck with ps's. I hope they come up with a wonderful plan for you. I don't think we have anything planned for August right now.

Does anyone want to get together in August or should we wait until September this time?

Well, I hate to have a luncheon without Liz, but I am able to go on Sept. 14th?  We can see what the others have to say.

Whew, I am so glad to hear from you, Lisa#3, I was a little worried.  Sometimes you just need a break from this whole mess.  But I miss you.

AE wants to try and come, too, so weigh in girls, with what dates you can make.

Shirl, did you mean you cannot meet until Sept. 14th?!? I would hate for us to miss out on August altogether. Cry I know there are lots of goings-on and SoCal cannot be there, but maybe some others? I am unable to come on the 17th, but the 16th is good, as is the 23rd & 24th. How does that sit with any other potential lunchers?

On the 17th, Sunday, there will be a new Orientation practice and Potluck for all interested potential paddlers for the San Deigo Team Survivor Dragon Boat Team. No, Shirl, you are NOT too old. No one is too young or too old - the only criterion is that you be a cancer survivor. We'd love to have any and all join - we are still looking to fill the boat! You need NO experience, NO pre-existing fitness level, NO paddling experience. How'bout it?!?

Oh no, I am free almost all the days until the end of October, we are going to Niagara Falls for our 55th wedding anniversary.  So I can come anytime.

Lisa, what do you wear to the Dragon Boat thing?

Shirl, I wear shorts and a t-shirt. Lots of women wear capris. Dri-weave stuff is good because sometimes you get a little damp or splashed. Some of the younger ones wear board shorts and a 'spring suit'. Heck, there's just a huge variety, 'cause there's just a huge variety of women! Beach shoes are good, as flip flops can be slippery (but women do wear those, too). I'm going to wear my silly hot pink Crocs next time! They can stand up to anything!

So, San Diego wimmins - when ARE we going to meet for lunch!?!

I can't do next weekend - several parties for a friend who is moving to Arkansas of all places, but the weekend after is doable.

Lisa, what time and where do you meet?  I see sculls on the end of Fiesta Island, but not sure what time, what do I bring and where to go?  Typical me.  hahahaha

Cool - Susan, Brenda and I can do the 24th, too! How about you, Lisa#3? Shirl? Jodi? Nash? Sylvia? We've only got two weeks to hash this one out! Shall we go back to the CA Pizza Kitchen that seemed somewhat central? Or go further North? Suggestions?

Shirl, the Dragon Boat team meets Sunday mornings at 8:30 at the Youth Aquatic Center on Fiesta Island. If you drive around Fiesta Island, it's the one veer-off to the right that is gated and says restricted access and so on. But we go on in. Usually we are finished about ten, so plenty of time for BCO lunches, but on the 17th, we are welcoming new members, like you, who were intrigued by the UTrib article. We'll have an intro and a Potluck afterward. You (or anyone interested) can email Angie, our intrepid leader, at. teamsurvivorsd@yahoo.com to get on the yahoo group mailing list for all the details.

Here's a video that was made from our first big outing earlier this summer. We got soundly beaten, but had a blast! Mostly you can see the back of my head a lot, but in picture 24 (of 35 in the gallery at the end), you can see me standing, barefoot, waiting to get in the boat. 4th row (of two) back from head of line, black shorts, visor with purple lei on it, not waving, cause I'm looking at the water!

Hey gal, I e-mailed the addy you posted and got a nice man named Kevin, who does coach the boats, but has never heard of the cancer survivor thing?  Maybe the addy's got mixed up.

Sylvia and Nash are you coming? Do you want to ride together?
