First one was no problem at all.  Second one I had some bone aches one night, caused a little problem sleeping.  No problems since then.

Had about 3 days of feeling like I had flu, still happens 1 1/2yr later.  Usually plan for quiet few days after influsion, warm baths etc.  Really helps.

First one was bad...fever, shaking chills, abdominal pain, vomiting lasting for about 10 hrs. All the other infusions have been easy!!

    The first one...

I remember feeling feverish and flu-like.  Sort of like how you feel when you're coming down with the flu.  I had all over bone pain and I was really sleepy.  I was still able to go out but I remember being at an art class and literally falling asleep at the desk at about 3 p.m. in the afternoon.  I had to get up and go home because I felt EXHAUSED.  This lasted about 7 days.

The next infusion I had over 30 minutes and I haven't really had much of a problem since.  I attributed it to being my first infusion and the fact that it was pushed through so quickly (15 minutes).

    Cheryl.

I had no problem with the infusion.  I do take Claritin (actually a generic equivalent), so that might actually have helped.  Same thing with Herceptin, which can cause flu-like symptoms after the 1st infusion.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me.  It helps to know what to expect.

Are the flu-like symptoms, etc. an allergic reaction?  Would it help to take something to prevent a reaction, something like benadryl? or would that interfere with the drug? Just would like to avoid some of the acute-phase reaction if there is any way to do it.
