Hey all!
My vote is to keep it simple......meaning skip the grilling! We could have different kinds of Salads....(Chicken, Potatoe, Coleslaw......and on and on) Some muffins or breads........Not just good for you salads! Dessert Salads count too! And sweets lots of sweets! As long as we can keep all cold..........I'm a freak about keeping salads cold!! And maybe have everyone bring their own drinks....
I'm definitely NOT planning.....just suggestions from the peanut gallery!
Whatever you all decide, just let me know!!

No fair Judy! I called paper goods back on the 18th!
I'm absolutely hopeless in the kitchen.
If anyone is coming from the north/east and wants to car pool, let me know. I'm in Imlay City.
Can't wait to see everyone.
Irene
-
Well, shucks, Irene- I guess I missed that post.
I'll bring something else then (does it have to be homemade? lol)
-
Sounds like so much fun. I am volunteering to bring hot dogs/brats with buns, charcoal, lighter fluid, mustard, ketchup, and onions. Thanks for dong the leg work on this Judy. I do have a large tent that I co-own and can bring that as well for rain. I will have to find out who in the family has it.
Nancy-the reunion was a blast...we had so much fun. We also spent a few days on Lake Charlevoix...talk about great summertime fun!
Wendy-good luck with your surgery!
Mary-how are you doing?
-
Hi All,
I have a 5-gallon beverage cooler I can bring Ice Tea. I will bring some sugar packs for those that like sweet tea. I will also pick up some beverage cups.
I can make a pasta salad and I make a killer oreo dessert if you think we need some desserts.
Rockysmom - I can bring my Wings sign. Does it cost to get into the park?
To our out of state sisters - There is still time for you to join us. Not sure how far Park is from Metro........anyone know? But I'm sure one of us can do a swing by the airport.
Wendy - Best wishes to you on Monday and hope all goes well with your surgery.
Car poolers? I will be traveling N. on 127 to Jackson then hopping on E. 94 and hoping not to get lost. lol

Just a quick note to you all...............DebC our fellow former Michigander is having some problems and is currently in the hospital. There are a couple sites in the Mets thread where she has written.....I believe one is "Maybe we celebrated to soon" and the other is "In the hospital"..........Let's all keep her in our thoughts and if anyone wants to send her a card PM me and I'll get her address to you.

I didn't realize that there was a Michigan group of people that get together.
I live in Livonia, and have lived in SE Mich for over 20 years now.
Anything I can do to help?
-
Hi Sue,
I talked to you back in June. I also live in Livonia and was going to give you a call about the picnic. I just had my surgery Monday and will probably go home Friday. The surgery went very, very good and the PS is pleased. We had planned to meet for lunch but something came up and I wasnt able to go. Hopefully we can still do so. I will give you a call when I get home. Good to see you on thread!
Wendy

Dynamite!
I am so glad to hear that your reconstruction surgery went well.
Talk to you soon.
-
Hi, everyone!
I've been taking some time off from this site, so now I'm catching up with everything again. I see you're planning a picnic later this month. I'd love to meet all of you. Would it be OK if I join you at your picnic?
Linda
-
Hi Everyone,
About the picnic - we always say the more the merrier! Pass the word. Are your DH's coming?
Sounds like we have a great menu going. About desert, can you ever have enough? I'll bring whip cream for the fruit so that covers our dairy and antioxidants. Chris has protein covered with dogs and brahts. Oreo thing would be adding some chocolate for more flavonoids and anti-depressants.
It's a metro park so it probably costs $4.00 per car to get in unless you have a season sticker for $20.00 a year or $12.00 a year for seniors. I have a sticker on my "dog mobile" which I probably won't bring if anyone else wants a lift!
Wendy - you said you had your surgery and that was the TUG, right? So glad to hear it went well.
Wishing the best for those going through treatment.
I 'm sick about DebC. I'll get a card out to her pronto.

Hi Girls........................are we still on for the picnic/potluck on the 24th.???????? Sure do hope so!Are we going to have a so called "sign up" sheet or just bring whatever we want?? I'm game for anything.......just let me know!
Hugs,
Neesie
-
Me, too!
Me, too!
I was thinking, a tortellini salad with italian dressing and pickled veges
-
Hi!
I'm planning to join in the fun on the 24th, so I really do hope we're still on. What time are we meeting?
Since I think Chris is planning to grill hotdogs, we'll have a flame, so I'm thinking of bringing all the makings for smores!
Linda
-
I have a really cute portable gas grill I can bring. Haven't used it yet so it would be fun to break it in. If no one was going to bring potato salad, I'd like to bring that. I could bring brownies too. Did anyone decide if DH's were coming too? Couldn't find an answer anywhere. If anyone needs a ride from the 6 Mile/I 275 area, I'd be happy for the company. I have a minivan so space isn't a problem.
Looking forward to meeting everyone so much. Sure hope we have as nice weather as we are supposed to have this weekend. Also, where was the decision made to meet? I suppose I can just look for the signs. Take care everyone.
In His Hands,
Wendy

YAY more people!
Please everyone come and join in.
I took a tour of Kensington.
I think The "east boat launch and fishing piers" will be a great place for us to meet.
If you look online (metroparks.com) it will be labeled A
If you're coming via the I96 Freeway, take the KENT LAKE RD exit (if you take the kensington exit you'll have to drive all the way around the lake)
Our spot will be the very first drive on the left after the toll booth.(if you get to the waterslide, you went too far) Yes, it is $4.00 for a day pass. There's a mall and parking at 96 ans milford rd exit if people wanted to meet at the parking lot and drive in together.
Anyone have a time suggestion ?
I figure I'll have to get there early to make sure and get some tables reserved.
Sunday the 24th, right?
-
We are all set! Thanks so much for doing the leg-work rockysmom - Judy! The "east boat launch and fishing piers" sounds perfect and easy to find.
How about noon so we are sure to get our spot? Are there picnic tables there? I can bring some tablecloths and some of those food canopies to keep the bugs out. I have two chairs that fit in the car so I have an extra for someone.
If anyone wants a ride or would like my cell phone number, send me a private message.
I only went back a page or so, but I think these are who responded that they were interested in meeting and food suggestions....
ICanDoThis - Sue, tortellini salad
Linda1 - Linda, smores
sunkistmi - Wendy, potato salad (maybe brownies), canopy?
Neesie - Denise, "game for anything"

Sounds like a good plan to me! I'm having 'brain freeze' over what to bring! We have meat, fruit, a few salads and yummy desserts....................any ideas? I could make baked beans....what do you think? Feel free to toss ideas my way.......Also, Chris..would you like some help with the Buns and condiments? You don't have to bring it all.......let me know.
I have 2 chairs that I can bring.
Can anyone let Geri know? I don't think Kay comes here anymore......And I'd like to see Anne, but don't want to bug her.
Wendy.......Usually it's just us girls, but you can certainly bring your Hubby if he wants to come!!Looking forward to meeting you!
Hugs,
Neesie

Hi Everyone~
I have been AWOL from this site for awhile and it looks like you are having a lovely get together next weekend-well, have fun and I will catch up with you all next time.
I've been in/out of the hospital with health issues so I will be more present on the boards. Did I see that Judy from Plymouth was on? Do send her my best-hopefully her situation with her daughter will improve.
Nancy, it's great to see you post:-)
I feel like I need to play catch-up..so..I will look back at the archives of the thread.
Hope everyone is enjoying the last days of summer!
-
Hi,
I'm fairly new here and noticed this thread. I live in Livonia and was wondering if I could come to your picnic next week. I'd love to meet some other local survivors.
-
JanDun.......Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad that you found us....we're a 'pretty nice' group of girls! Please do come to our Picnic, we'll welcome you with open arms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs,
Neesie
-
JanDun1, I live in Livonia also. If you would like to ride w/me, I would love to have the company. I live in the 6 Mile/275 area but would be happy to pick you up. I have a minivan and will be bringing some chairs and a canopy. Send me a PM and I will give you my number to call or if you prefer, give me your number and I could call you. Hope to hear from you.
Nancy, I made potato salad Sat. for the Dream Cruise and it totally wore me out! It took me 5 hours. Course by next weekend it will be almost 3 weeks after surgery so maybe it will be easier but I'm not sure I can do the potato salad. Could I bring something else? I'll play it by ear and do my best but we will have to see. I could still do the brownies. I'll do my best.
Look forward to seeing everyone.
Wendy
-
Hi to all!
Wendy......of course you don't have to bring Potato Salad............My goodness..3 weeks out of surgery..........why don't you just come and not worry about bringing anything............!! There won't be all that many there and we will have plenty of food!
Neesie
-
Wendy - I second what Neesie said.
I would offer to drive, but I am driving teenager and her friends about in the morning, as a girl friend is visiting from out of town. If you don't think you can drive - PM me, and I can include you in our car pool.
JanDun - nice to meet another Livonia girl.
See you all Sunday
-
Looking forward to Sunday. Right now, the weather is 30% chance of rain. I do have a shelter I can bring, but will need to erect it. Do we have name tags and are we thinking about 12 ladies?
-
I'm looking forward to Sunday also! Hey, if you guys are not up to making something, just bring yourselves! The menu is just a suggestion and it looks like we have plenty to pig out on.
If anyone wants a hitch, send me a private message. I'm coming from the Westside and can easily stop at any major spot for a pick-up.
Hi Lori. Sorry to hear about your new health issues. You better catch us next time we get-together!
I think I still have Judy's Wings nametags from the Race. I'll bring them or find something.
xxxooo
Nancy
-
Hi Nancy,
I wasn't sure if anyone had nametags so I started to make some. I'll bring them and we can use whichever you want.
Thanks Sue for the offer to drive but I'm fine. I've been driving since 2 days after I got out of the hospital. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Has anyone had a problem w/a clogged drain? I have a clot right where it goes into the leg and I have gone from 250 cc of fluid yesterday to 45 cc today. Not good. I've milked it and so had DH, who is stronger. It's so frustrating. I can see it but can't get it to move. The thigh is starting to get puffy and is very sore. I have a large syringe and thought to use it to pull it out but DH isn't thrilled w/the idea. All I have done is sleep today and that's just not like the way I have felt like over the last week since I got home. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to hear them. Thanks in advance.
Looking forward to Sunday. I'll plan on bringing the 10x10 canopy 'just in case'.
Wendy
