Too Late for Chemo

I had a skin saving double mastectomy in April, had lots of trouble with infections and not healing.  Ended up back in the OR 7 more times, the last at the beginning of June in which everything was removed.  I still have a small hole that is not healing.  It is where serous fluid drained and it quit draining but still has not closed.  Surgeon said it has to close on its own, which it seems like I've been waiting an eternity for that to happen.  Saw my Onc on Monday and he stated that it is now too late for chemo.  Has anyone else out there been told that?  I feel devastated.  I thought the one thing that TN had going for it was the chemo.  Doc says he'll just put me on a prescription med.

IDC, Triple Neg, Stage 1, Grade 3, no lymph node involvement, BRCA2 positive

There is a study that showed that women who received chemo 0-12 weeks post surgery did much better than women who had chemo 13 weeks onwards. Sorry I can't find it now. I am not sure if there was no benefit though, perhaps a reduced benefit that may be outweighed by the risks. At stage 1, that may be the case.

How many weeks have elapsed? Can you get another opinion?  What Oral med is he talking about and is it for triple negative?

Fyi, I never did chemo or rads and I am 4 years and 5 months with no evidence of disease.
