Implant Exchange (oYo) ~ Anyone go/stay SMALL?? (B cup)
Comments

I would imagine you'd get a good fitter - call for the appt ahead of time...
...and for what they charge for these bras they better last forever - the average T-shirt bra was $78 dollars! Um,, yeah - I won't be paying full price for one of those! Check your insurance. The Nordies lady wanted to make sure I got the most out of the bra shopping. She was very sincere that after everything BC ladies go thru we deserve these pretty bras. She went to an all day training w/ Nordstrom's to learn about prosthesis fitting and BC stuff...seems the company educates their staff well...they have a prosthesis office out west (prob by you) that handles all the insurance stuff. Pretty helpful so far...
-
Megan Holy Crap! 32DD???? I think a 32 would choke me youre either pretty tiny or we BOTH have been buying the wrong bras!!! I honestly would give anything to show the tag of my 32DDs to my BFF!!! LOL!!!! What a great day! I was sooooo excited to read all about it! Ill have to get myself to a Nordstroms somehow. I think there might be one in Columbus....FIELD TRIP!!!
Cant wait to see!!!!
-
Congrats on a great day, Megan!
You guys have me cracking up! This thread is the most fun I've had on this site! Puts a happy spin on BC. And yes Susan I think you need to change the thread title!!
You are all making me really look forward to the TE finish line! ;-)
-
Thank Sue & Rennasus - I was so excited to share this news on this thread - not only because of the nature of the sheer opposite size I have measured, but because this thread is one of the best! I just love sharing with you ladies!!!
Sue - I bet you'll be a 32. You have the same ribcage measurement as me and are tiny - so now you know if you venture to the world of 450's you'll probably end up a solid C cup like me, but with the shocking label reading DD!
I am being dead serious that I look like a C, I called my sister and she laughed at DD, saying I definitley don't look that big. I have friends who haven't seen me yet and I think I will wait to tell the cup size till I see them in person. I think talking DD but look like a C could get lost in translation! ;-)
Definitley make the trip to a Nordies near you, or look around and see if you have any lingerie boutiques close by that specialize in fittings. Maybe they will accept insurance, too.
It's like it all made sense once I started processing the idea of band size. If I was a 34, I'd measure out a (large) C cup. I don't know whats wrong with me that I am just understanding this rationale now...
-
Rennasus and Sue ~ not too long before you guys can join us on the "other side".
Megan...now wait.. if you were a 34..wouldn't it be a D cup... then 36 would be a C cup? I'm confusaled! (I had no idea about these sister sizes before BC either!!) Probably because when I would get thinner....my band size would go down...but my CUP size went DOWN too, not up!!! LOL!
-
ok - I thought that me now measuring a 32 DD - if I gained weight and became a 34 band I would be a C cup...does this make sense below?
32 D = 34C
32C = 34B
34 B = 36A
etc, etc.....???????
I dunno...maybe I stilllll don't understand bra rationale...geesh! ;-)
-
Wait... but you are a DOUBLE D, right?... so
32DD = 34D??
-
oh good gosh I am super-slow about learning bra-stuff! I forgot about the double-D-thing...I guess when you spend your life in a little 'ole A, it's hard to figure out all these other letters and sizes!
...so yeah, I guess 32 DD = 34 D, so is that the way it goes down the line? Is a DD a full cup bigger than a D? Why did they have to use the double letter? Couldn't the people who started this whole size thing just have stuck to regular letters and not doubling up when they got to D? So A,B,C,D are cups sizes, then DD, E, EE, F,FF, etc.....? Why the double letter at D? anyone, anyone?!?!?
-
You crack me up!! I looked it up and I think the only common "double letter" is with the D's. In Europe and French sizes you would be an E!
-
And yeah... it goes A, B, C, D, DD, E, F...and than god knows what? lol! I swear I've heard people say triple D before though? .. .and wait... how come AA is SMALLER than A??
Anyhoo... glad you had such an awesome experience at Nordstroms Megan!!! I congrats on your new pretty DD bras!!
-
This is the funniest thread ever. Wasnt there something about 'staying SMALL (B cup)?????' and now we are discussing the fine art of bra sizing over D's??? I am sure when bras were invented, not many women made it past D's, so when they did, they became DD's. Women over time are getting bigger...shoot my mom had an 18 inch waist when she got married! Then along came Jane Russell....she changed everything. I was watching a classic movie about the flapper era and those women had the littlest boobs which was sexy then. (my DH said you couldnt charleston with big boobs or youd hurt your date). I am sure as more and more women needed bigger bras, manufacturers were happy to oblige.
Thats my un-educated history lesson on the subject of boobs. At least my theory anyway!!! When I used to perform (cabaret singer), my costumers LOVED me because not many women could fit into period (antique) clothing....when I was 110 pounds and a 22 inch waist, I could fit into them. And these are costumes only from the 20's-40's.
-
Susan does it SOUND better to be a AA than an A based on that rationale? Do they even MAKE AA's anymore? Some dodo told me once "A cup is what I drink out of" OK bitch, but when we are in our 40's Ill still be skinny and you'll still be ugly.
-
ROFL with Suebee!!!!!!! OMG!! I LOVE IT!
I distinctly remember in my late teens (prob 19) ...and laying outside in the sun in swimsuits with my large busted "friend". All of a sudden she sits up and shouts, "God you've got tiny tits!!" I'm not kidding. What the hell do you say to that as a shy teen?! ... I certainly couldn't have said, "Thanks, and now can you move because your fat ass is blocking my sun!"
And yeah, Sue... we are in our 40's now and her boobs are still bigger than mine...but so is her ass!
-
And NO, it does NOT sound better to be an AA does it?! How come it does to be a DD?
Wait.... actually, no matter how many A's how have (1, 2 even 3) ... still sounds bad! lol!
And..yes... they have AA's at Victoria Secret!!!
-
Freakin' hilarious, you two!!!
I am seriously laughing so hard, really...your comments bring me back to some similar memories...
I was that girl who didn't need the bra, but wanted to need it anyway...I remember boys snapping the girls' bra straps in 6th or 7th grade...and not being a "full time bra wearer" then it was a nightmare worrying that everyone would mock me...yeah... mock me now, jackasses!!!! LOL!!!
I like your explanation Sue about how bra sizes have gotten bigger, sounds perfectly rational and works for me :-) ....btw, you sung cabaret? How cool!!!
Susan, shows you what I know about bra sizes, first I forget about the DD-thing, ands I had no real clue where bra sizes went after that, anyway...and I almost forgot about AA! -
I forgot to comment on the cabaret singer mention.. that is WAY cool Sue! I always have been envious of people with beautiful singing voices!
-
Oh how we could write a book on the horrors of going through our teens with teenie titties!!! SCARRED for LIFE!!!
yes Susan the lady that said that to my had a breast REDUCTION and she was making boob comments to me? She would understand breast-insecurity!! Ugly WITCH!!! LOL. In Boston we would say "Wicked Hag"...and she was!!!
And yes, I was in a performance troupe in Boston through my 20's. I wouldnt say I had the beautiful voice but I could belt out a song with the best of them! Its how i met my husband - we performed 6 shows together and he thought "I want THAT one!!!" So we eloped! Then I had kids and they wouldnt let me sing around the house. Nice. Bullied by my 2 year old. LOL!!!
-
Love it, Sue! How romantic, you eloped and here you are with kids and a great hub & fam! Isn't it great to think back on all that stuff and see how far we've all come, especially this past year?
-
Wicked Hag, indeed!!
And what a great story of how you met and married your hubby!!! Did you guys sing at your wedding?
How long have you been married?
It's me and my DH's 20th wedding anniversary next Wednesday! We originally wanted to do something "big" and take a trip to somewhere like Europe or Bora Bora. But when BC came along it sucked up any extra money we had for that. But that's okay. It's just a number, and I'm slap happy to have already made it through to the other side relatively unscathed (and alive!) with my dear hubby by my side! (And gives me another year to get back into that bikini!)
-
I agree Megan! Like Virginia Slim said
."We've come a long way, baby!"
-
FireDancer: I'm glad you had such fun & surprises at Nordstroms. Boy - go to work for a day and all sorts of excitement comes down. I've tried to buy mostly 'nude' bras for years since they disappear beneath your clothes - until you unbutton of course.
Susan'sGarden: Please don't change the name of the thread. The group here is fun and the posts make my day. Can't we just make exceptions for all the great ladies posting who are no longer small?
-
You guys have had me laughing all day! I think since I had to have my expanders removed on Monday, I get the prize for being the flattest now!
For those who asked about my skin with the infection, it was all inside. The exterior looked wonderful. My husband said the PS was totally bummed when he came out as he said everything looked amazing with the exception of the infection being too much to put the implants in. I am going to ask him next week if there is anything I can do with oils or creams to keep the skin supple and hopefully able to advance quickly when we re-start at the end of July.
Now, on the bra size front....I worked at Macy's part time in the home department. Lingerie was part of that so occassionally had to fill in to cover lunches. As an FYI, there is a G cup size. I swear you could wear it like a hat, it was that big.
Sue-how cool that you sing. My daughter was just invited to the final auditions for national tour of Spamalot. So she was in NYC today. Made it to the end but was finally cut. There is a Norstrom's in Columbus Ohio. Easton Towne Center has one, I think and I think there might be another one.
This is definately the best thread to be part of. Keeps me smiling.
-
Megan youre right!!! We have come a long way!!
Susan - congrats on the 20! My BFF and her husband are celebrating their 20th this month too - they are going to Hawaii (I think I already said that - with the not being able to find a dress) but she was soooooo young when they got married and they waited to have kids. DH and I have been married 14 and pretty much had kids right away so no time alone. He isnt a singer - my troupe sang with the Air Force Band one summer....it was VERY COOL. He is a trumpet player. We got married on his TDY (tour of duty) at Niagara Falls and he went back to work the next day and I flew home....sad but thats a common story with military couples! BFF says she will watch our kids so we can have romantic weekend after all surgeries are finished. We NEVER get to be alone so that will be exciting!
Fluff that is FANTASTIC about your daughter! I never made it to that level...it was more of a hobby for me but I have lots of friends who are in tours or are working in NYC.
and G cup? WHOLLY SCHMOLLEY!!!! Although I know a lady who is so large I always say to my husband "look (as I bend one leg up behind me) from my hip to my knee is like that ladies BOOB...how does she carry those around???"
-
MinusTwo ~ Don't worry, I won't change the name of the thread! Everyone all started out with good intentions, right?! lol! This thread always gives me a smile! Love the ladies on here!
Fluffqueen~ Your daughter sounds very talented! And I saw Spamalot! LOVED it!! ....That really is such a bummer about the infection. That's a great idea to keep the skin supple! Maybe even "massaging" it? And G cup!? But you know... I was watching that show called "The Voice" and the singer Frenchie was on and I was noticing her..ahem.....ladylumps....and like Sue was saying...how do you carry those things around!?
Sue ~ That's right.. I forgot about your BFF celebrating her anniversary! Did she ever find a dress? Niagra falls~ awww, how romantic! And you and hubby sure do deserve a romantic weekend when all this is done! I want to plan that too when I'm all healed up in about a month. We only have one child and he is 17, so it is easy for us to "get away"... we just need to DO it!
-
Susan I am happy to report that BFF found a dress just yesterday....but then I spent the morning listening to her bemoan her boobs again so I said "honestly and for real, your boobs are NOT what people see first about you....they are bigger to you than to everyone else!" We never want what we have, do we? Ill get the boobs all set and then complain about the muffin top or the wrinkles or something else.
And today is BJ day for my neighbor!! Hopefully she did well....I cant wait to hear.
And what were you, 15 when you had kids? Kidding....It would be nice if one of mine was 17 but mine are 13 and 11. I didnt plan either one but I was also in my 30's when I started. We'll get that romantic weekend! I am sure of it!
-
I was gonna ask about your neighbors BJ day (now THAT sounds funny!)..but didn't want you to think I was obsessed with her!
Yeah... tell her your internet boobie friends can't wait to hear how she's doing!!
..and yes, I was 15 when I had my son.
-
Glad your friend found a dress too! (Does Victoria Secrets still make clothes? I remember seeing a catalog of theirs with clothes (shocking!) in it...but noticed that all the tops were made to be super tight but had lots of room for the boobs. There was no way any of the stuff would fit me.. it woulda had the chest portion of fabric flopping with the wind! But I bet your friend could find lotsa stuff there!)
-
LOL Well, IM not going to be the one to suggest it! LOL - I think she found it at Dress Barn? She doesnt love it but its a week before her trip and 'it will do' Her problem is she is so teenie otherwise...built like a gymnast with thick arms and legs but a teenie waist. I remember looking for prom dresses and holding up the strapless ones thinking "who in the world is big enough to hold THIS up????" I have NEVER worn a strapless - not even a spaghetti strap dress - EVER. Maybe Ill look into one when I have something to hold it up! Then I could have my very own wardrobe malfunction!
Anyway and as for neighbor - I dont think I will be telling HER that my internet friends ask how she is doing!!! LOL!!! She called me a couple hours ago - groggy but feeling OK right now. She was drugged up clearly though. Ill have to call on her this weekend!
-
My exchange surgery was just pushed up to June 24 from May 27th because of these shingles. $@#*!
-
Sue~ LOL about you looking forward to your very first wardrobe malfunction!
Lago~ Another month with the stripper boobs? Are you sure your hubby isn't responsible for this somehow?
... seriously, I'm sorry this is causing you a delay with reconstruction. I know nothing about shingles but heard it can be pretty painful in some cases? Hope you are not in too much pain!
