I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Kerry, have to say, the trip for her with family was MUCH more important than cutting those bangs! Not like it used to be with everyone 'prim and proper' for the start of school Unless of course, she's starting kindergarten

You love old cars too! Very cool. We redid a 49 Ford picku and a 38 Ford Tudor sedan. What a riot we had. The family did it really. Even the girls at 8-11 helped a bit with the tudor. I did the interior (not by choice, but be/c told everyone I could) and we all worked on the outside. I tell you, sewing an interior for a car when you rarely sew buttons back on a shirt, is a stretch! But it did look pretty good. Can't tell you how often I got pulled over for that beast! Had a huge engine with a blower and what not under the hood. I tell you, that thing could fly! The truck was more done like original, only new engine. No power steering and what a beast to drive.
I won't tell you about pulling the boat with the 39 one summer and forgetting I had it back there, till I passed dh doing about 85 and he called to say, 'boats aren't meant to fly'!
He was pulling the camper behind his truck when I passed him. He said I passed a cop in the merridian, but that the site must have scared him, b/c he never came after me. LOL What a gas we had with that car and truck! -
Wish, That is too funny "boats aren't meant to fly" You must have really been moving!!! My younger sister had a Javelin AMX. Man, that thing was FAST. I think that my Dad helped her buy that one too. He really should of had boys. He passed on his love of cars to the both of us. I was at the Dodge dealership in town the other day and they had a 2008 Charger. It was beautiful, 2 doors, bucket seats in the front, just like the old style. I LOVED it and it was only 50,000.00 dollars here in Canada. What a machine. Oh well, if I win the lottery........... I know what I am buying!!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Whew, with 50,000 (what is that in US$) I think I could find a whole lot more I needed than a car!
Especially since I have to nearly 2 track out the front drive these days! UGH! Will this construction season NEVER end in michigan? But yes, I think my dh passed in on to at least one of the girls. The other (step dd) was only here till she was 13, and boys were her forte

-
gsg,
Glad to see you post again! I have missed you!! You are so nice to help out, even though you aren't officially on vacation.
Wish,
I hope the construction ends soon!
I haven't cleaned, but my MIL is coming over, so my DH did. He vacuumed the rug, and it looks nice! My MIL is coming over tomorrow, because she is worried about Hanna, but we aren't too worried, since they are now saying she may maintain the tropical storm status, or maybe strengthen to a very weak cat. 1 hurricane, and she's expected to make landfall... they think around Wrightsville Beach, in the Wilmington area.I have been working 4 days every week, for the past two weeks, and now, finally am settling, I hope to just 3 days/week.
No time to catch up with all the threads, but just wanted to pop in and say Hi!!
Harley
-
Glad you checked in Harley. The construction is on hold (with both drives messed! UGH! We are getting the remnants of gustav and getting a nice long, 2 day rain. Steady and good soaking! We need it, so I won't complain about no driveway for a couple days. IF it's only a couple days!
-
Our storm looks like it will be kind of wimpy, and IKE may hit S. Florida, maybe Miami. That is good for us, but bad for Florida.
Glad you are getting some much needed rain, even if it delays the construction. I am also glad for the rain we will be getting from Hanna and maybe Ike, if we get any of it's remnants next week.
This thread has been kind of slow... I hope no one is cleaning!!
-
I hurt to much to clean
My hips are killing me today! Hate that! I think everyone's just busy this week with fall coming and then the dreaded winter
Long, cold, wet and cold winter. NOT looking forward to that.We got over 3 inches of rain last night. Big rain, long and soaking. Very nice. Yes, it stopped construction, but that's okay. I over heard the guys saying they are working on more tomorrow, but I know the cement guys for the drives and gutters aren't working again till monday or later! That's ridiculous. Starta job and then leave it to finish another. Typical. Meanwhile, I've got forms across both drives that are impossible to drive over, so I'm parking in the back acreage and having to haul stuff to the house! Bad boys....
-
Hi All........whew, can't catch up on all the posts, that's what being away and working does! I am gonna have to get my act together one of these days! The gardens are overgrown, my kid is still at home a should be back at school so I'm tripping on her crap all over that is waiting to be packed!!! The downstairs in is a construction zone soon to be a little apartment.......BAH! Mess everywhere.......I give up!
Don't anyone get to ambitious and for those of you in the hurricane zones.......batten down the hatches!
Have a good weekend all!
-
Good morning, girls. Didn't get to be around here as much as I wanted during our August recess...and today I go back to work. You will all pleased to know that I was only able to cross one thing off my to-do list during my five weeks off and that was only making a phone call to change an appointment. Oh WHAT a SLUG am I.
I am going to go swimming this morning before work....hopefully that will make me feel better about everything.
Hannah was a nonissue for our part of Maryland...although some areas nearby did lose some electricity. For a change, we didn't...it just flashed off and on a couple times. We welcomed the rain...really needed it.
-
HI gsg, it is good to see you posting again. I wish I had even a teeny bit of energy. I am so tired! I know I need to exercise more, but it's so hard to get up the energy to get started. I went for a walk yesterday, but today I'm even MORE tired! How can that be?
I have to work tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to it.
Maybe when I am home, I'll see you on C-span... is that the channel where they show you? -
Harley? How did the appt go today?
ARe you coming to chat at 8:45? the quiet room? About the hats/scarves and such? Need ideas from everyone! Come, k?
It rained tonight and was windy as all heck so no bike either night~ And my knees and hips are feeling this rain! UGH!
-
Hi, Harley. Yes, there's two different C-SPANs and mine is C-SPAN2. I'll be down there today from 4:00 to 5:00. I'm wearing a cream-colored jacket and brown and cream print dress. Usually sitting at one of the tables in front...all the way to the left as the camera faces the dais...if there' s a vote going on, I stand along the back wall.
Tomorrow I'll be down there from 11:00 to 12:00, 1:30 to 2:30, and 4:00 to 5:00.
It was pouring here a little bit ago, but appears to have stopped. I love listening to downpours when I don't have to be out in it.
-
I still have the rainbow vacuum that I borrowed from my mom weeks ago. This darn fatigue is sticking to me like glue. I've even laid off the cookies for 3 weeks now. I drink at least 16 oz of raw juice that I make fresh every day, and even more most days. Twice a day is the norm lately, and sometimes even three. I've never been much for calorie counting, but it really seems to me like I should be losing weight. I swear, liposuction is the only thing that gets it off. hmm, maybe I should start posting on the bitch thread. lol
I at least have sufficient incentive to get some laundry done. Ike is now heading in my direction according to today's models. I evacuated for rita three years ago and it clobbered east texas instead. If I have to evacuate, I will at least have some clean underwear.
-
gsg,
Thanks! Maybe I will be able to watch for a few minutes, before I go to work tomorrow. I am working from 12:00 til 6:00. Today, I was at my pcp drs., and then at work from 1:00 til 6:00. I work entirely too much!! My pcp dr. gave me a B-12 shot. Man, do they ever hurt!! I hope to be able to say that they work, but the jury is still out. I know a woman who got these shots, and she told me that within 1/2 hour, she was feeling better. I seem to be feeling a little better now, but I didn't notice an improvement immediately.
Althea,
clean underwear is the reason I do laundry, but that is the only thing I keep up with, and even then sometimes, it's dh who says, " I don't have any underwear....can you do a load?"
I am hoping to have the energy to at least get my act partially together.
-
althea: It's hell losing weight. In a very strange way, I wish I could turn back the clock to chemo. Knowing what I know now, i would try to control what went in my mouth then...that's where this whole overweight thing started for me. Sounds like you are doing all the right stuff...keep at it. Hope Ike avoids you.
Harley: I'm going to wear a black and taupe print dress with a little short black jacket today. I'm not sure you'll be able to tolerate it for even a few minutes. Not very riveting. You'll most likely only see me during quorum calls. I fished out the business card of a diet doctor the other day. In conjunction with his diet he gives B-12 shots every 2 weeks. I'm thinking about giving that a try if it's not too expensive. Didn't realize the shots hurt, though.
One of my major problems with clean laundry is what to do with it. My dresser drawers are a mess and filled with stuff that no longer fits. I've been too lazy for 2 years now to do anything about it. So when I wash, there's no place to put the clean stuff and it ends up stacked in my laundry room or in baskets. What a way to live.
Confession time: I used a swiffer duster on my dresser over the weekend, but the part that allows me to remain in this thread is I didn't move anything. I dusted around everything and you can tell.
-
gsg,
Yes, those b-12 shots do hurt! I suppose any shots may hurt, but it seemed that the Neulasta shot didn't hurt as much. Someone told me that the needle is thicker, so it punctures the skin more? I don't know, but that makes sense to me. Also, they may want to give you the b-12 shot in your buttocks, not the arm, like they did me... maybe that doesn't hurt as much? I don't know. That is strange... my dr. said I would get the B-12 shots once a month, but maybe I am someone who would need them more often.
I also have TONS of clothes that don't fit anymore, so I now have no room for the clothes that DO fit!! I have piles of clothes everywhere! Maybe I should just clean out the ones that no longer fit.
Well, it's 11:00, so I think I will go check to see if I can see you on C-Span2.
-
patrice, I haven't put my laundry away in 6 years. lol I haven't had a place to put my laundry since my ex moved out in '02. Every now and then I long for a chest of drawers, but really, I'm perfectly content to just let it sit in the baskets. I have 4 of them. I have some clothes in my closet, but I haven't worn them in ages. My long haired cat loves to jump in the moment the closet door opens. I keep the clean laundry covered with a nightgown in case kitty decides she wants to sleep in a laundry basket. I also work at home, so I don't have to put on anything more than jeans and a tshirt. You deserve 10 gold stars just for holding down the job you have.
I had a B12 shot a couple of years ago as one of many things I've tried to battle fatigue. It didn't help, but I don't recall that it hurt much either. The nurse said anything over 1 cc should go in the butt, and that's where I received my shot. It was $12. I've been taking supplements that have loads of all the B vitamins. My fatigue was subsiding from March, when I started, to July.
Then the fatigue came back and hasn't left. I've burned through a number of theories, and the only one that explains the duration is ptsd. I had a really great day July 18th, then July 19th I crashed and I've been trying to rise from the ashes ever since. July 19th was the 3-year anniversary of my mastectomy/reconstruction, which I had in New Orleans, just 6 weeks before Katrina. Now I'm ramping up for Ike. It's forcast to make landfall north of where I live, but not by much. And I have shopping to do. ugh. Send me warm wishes for my safe haven to weather the storm.
-
-
Good wishes to get you through the storm, Althea. Stay safe.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Here ya go, Hanna. Copy and paste em....I have plenty to spare.

Althea,
I am thinking of you, and hope you will be safe from Ike's wrath.
I sure wish we didn't always have to worry about the big 'c' whenever we have aches and pains. I have had a stiff sore neck for 3 weeks now, and it is really getting on my nerves.
Patrice,
I didn't see you on CSPAN2. My dh came home from work and turned on the TV. He was saying "WTH?" when he saw that it was on CSPAN2. lol I explained that I was looking for you.
Hanna,
I guess that B-12 is supposed to help us to have more energy. I don't know, but my pcp dr. said "it couldn't hurt to get a B-12 shot." I said... "Oh, yes, it CAN!" He just laughed.
I am glad that you have your act together. Now you will need to come to my house and clean... it's only fair!
Harley

Hi Ladies,
gsg, I don't get CSPAN so I can't see you but your clothes sound wonderful. Maybe you should change your avatar daily and show us the outfit that you are wearing for the day. Tomorrow for work I sound way more boring than you. I am wearing beige shorts and a navy blue cami top with a beige henley top over it and sandals. Casual for tomorrow.LOL LOL !!!!
Althea, I wish you well with Ike.I hope that you stay safe.
My DH and DD and I today went to the local Fair. What a great day. I ate cotton candy, pink and blue. Nothing better than walking around the Fair eating cotton candy. I almost felt normal. Sure did enjoy myself. Last weekend I cleaned out the DD's closet and drawers. I swear that I had to. She had totalled them and none of her clothes fit any more and I could not get the back to school clothes in at all. Now I have bags of stuff to get rid of. I never get caught up on my laundry. Clean clothes are always in the laundry basket waiting to be folded. I think that we should have our closets in the laundry room and this would save the walk up the stairs to put the clothes away. You could have a laundry room/dressing room. When I win the lottery I will do that addition to my house and feel like a Hollywood Star with a dressing room. LOL LOL LOL. In my dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take Care All,
Kes

Kerry: I WISH I could wear what you're wearing :jealous: ...but for starters, even for home, shorts no longer fit me...and if I had some that fit, it would be nothing short of tragic to wear them in public at this point. We have small closets in our house...built before big closets were the trend. Since we're empty nesters my husband turned a spare bedroom into a closet for me with one of those closet systems. I've discovered instead of keeping me organized, I just have a bigger area now to turn into a clothes pigsty. At some point, I need to take a picture. You won't believe it.
I LOVE fairs....especially the fair junk food. Haven't been to one in years.
Harley: I don't blame your husband for turning the channel. LOL. I'll be down there this morning starting at 10:30 a.m. for the opening. I'm not sure how long I'll be there to start. Could be an hour, but possibly only 30 minutes. Can't remember jack!!! I'll post my schedule from work. I'm pretty sure I'm down there for a total of 3 hours today. IF it fits....and that's a very big IF....I'll be wearing a gray shift dress with a black-and-white dotted belt that ties into a bow and a short gray jacket.
Hanna: I command you to stop cleaning immediately before you give the rest of us a complex.

Hanna? The easiest to way to discard those clothes and feel good about it? Call your local women's shelter to see if they could use them. Most often women leave abusive situations with the clothes on their and their childrens' backs. I'm sure they'd love to have them!
Or your salvation army probably have a store where they sell them cheap to those in need. Kids clothes without tears/rips, buttons missing and badly soiled are out of course, but I've donate to them often, clothes and furniture. You can ask them for a receipt for the items and write it off, but I've never done that. I do know of some that do though. It's a thought anyway.

-
Patrice,
What are you going to be wearing tomorrow? I had to go to work this morning, and I woke up late, so I was just rushing around and didn't even see your post til now. You are always dressed so nicely! I agree with Hanna, if you can wear that cute belt, you are NOT fat! I wish I had such cute outfits to wear! Most of my clothes don't fit anymore.
I am not working tomorrow, I have the day off... so I'll be watching!!
Harley

Hey, Harley. I'm not sure what I'm wearing tomorrow. I'm going back down there today from 6:00 to 7 p.m. I've actually been down there quite a bit today. I'm not sure yet what my schedule is for tomorrow, but I'll let you know what I'm wearing in the morning.
Hanna: Great ideas re the pillows! LOL@the red carnation!

Gotta run!
